Time flies - December 29, 2001 @ 03:00 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
So what have I been upto these last few days of the year? Aside from bringing my last Dutch Guilders to the bank for the Jan 2002 Europe-wide introduction of the Euro currency, I've also been updating just about every section. Added sounds and visual to the Games section. Uploaded a whole bunch of new images to the Accessories section. Organized the Reviews section so each review now has it's own page. New German Articles added thanks to the newly updated PlanetVB. After several requests, I've added the videogamechat Virtual Boy message board to the sidebar menu, so if you'd like to talk with fellow VB-fans or trade/sell games, go right ahead! The VB Fanlist keeps on growing aswell. And in co-operation with my Japanese friends, who were so kind to translate an Unreleased VB gamelist for me, we found out that we were missing 7 unreleased Japanese Virtual Boy games that were in development, but never released. Sadly there is very little known about these games, but still we proudly present the latest additions to our unreleased games list:
Bayside War Line Red City,
Flying Henry,
Signal Tatto
,
Star Seed
,
Strange Animal School
,
Virtual Dodge Ball
,
Virtual Jockey
.
*The above 7 games information was derived from the very trustworthy Yokomizo Session Japanese website, which was even updated a couple of month ago.

Merry ....... Boxing Day? - September 26, 2001 @ 03:14 PM GMT+8 ~ OmeBa
Another small update for today as promised to Ferry. I hope you all had a great Christmas! Here in Australia it wasnt cold, but it wasn't very hot either :) The Virtual boy proved it's use once again as a christmas present of mine (a US SNES) needed a power adapter, so I had my Virtual Boy AC adapter that I used. Yes it actually "is" a US SNES AC Adapter for those who didn't know ;)
Well kick back on this lovely boxing day afternoon, have a good one!

Merry Christmas - September 24, 2001 @ 07:30 PM GMT+8 ~ OmeBa
We remade the entire Links section. Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas!

Must-have - December 20, 2001 @ 11:58 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
About half of the more than 70 people that already voted on the (above) poll seem to agree with me ;-) that Wario Land is the best thing going on for the VB, well we're not alone in thinking that. Defunct games has a Christmas feature going on where they go through 33 very collectable games or items thereof, check out how cool you are if you have the game HERE!
I will soon get to scan the rare Japanese Tsushin (100 pages large) ASCII magazine that was released in 1995, got it straight from Japan and it's said to have screenshots of 2 unreleased games, one being a whack-a-mole game and the other Virtual Double a Mahjong game... that's what I said... "WOW!!!"

Uploaded the Virtual Baseball review, as it seems apparently I forgot.

Virtual-E! - December 08, 2001 @ 01:54 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
At the moment 2 Virtual Boy emulators are in development for the PC, Reality Boy by David Tucker who has been busy porting to Windows the past year, and Virtual-E by Alberto Covarrubias whom needs help in order to progress with his emulator. So hereby a call for help, take it away Alberto:

"I realize that without the EPROM, my project ain't gonna be finished, in terms of the emulator and also the VB as a 3D device for the PC. I just need someone with that electronic background I don't have to help me finish the EPROM. Thanks, Alberto Covarrubias"
If you can help out in any way, please don't hesitate to email him, Alberto is currently also developing the second homebrewn VB game "Tron", well you can't go wrong with the classics ;-)
PS: There was also 1 emu named ViBe by Richard Bannister/Gil Pedersen in development for the Macintosh, but May 2001 development on it stopped dead, no further news is known, but incase this turns out to be true we may leak the beta. Don't bother emailing us or any VB (emulation) website about VB ROMs, no one will supply them due to legal issues.

It's raining men! - December 02, 2001 @ 01:48 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
More like boys... Virtual Boys, snowing down this Christmas season. Added the 7 years and older VB rating on the frontpage aswell (you know, it's for the young kids eyes issue). Also had a few pictures left on my harddisk that weren't put up yet, so now they are at the new Misc section (Omeba will soon have new articles!) and the grown to be huge Accessories section (vb dev kit & demo unit pages new info). Even put up TVBIN for us webmasters to pretend we know things our visitors don't and then pretend to actually discuss them there, which we surprisingly do, but it's mostly a planning file for this page. Seeing as this month we'll be upping some very nice new items, we were wondering how much more there really is to add further, so we figured maybe adding one or some sound samples from each game would be fun, but we're leaving that up to you, our visitors, who as it turns out show to be at least 70 a day: Do you think we should take at least 1 sound sample or music tune from every game and put it up on the Games section? Drop us an email if you think yes, and if no, we'll probably get no emails and that'll save us a lot of work :-p
PS: Backed up the
Virtual Boy: Comfort is a reality projects that weren't on this page yet, just incase some projects decide to go down in the future, you can never be too carefull. Well I got a long day tomorrow, sorry not another update this weekend, better get myself some sleep... VB Ozzzzzzzzzz!...

Cool - November 25, 2001 @ 03:36 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Just this weekend I was playing Wario Land again. Did you ever notice how the treasures you collect after you finish VB Wario Land and play it (the harder game) again are different from the ones you collect the first time through? The white bear is a raccoon, the prince mask now has a open mouth instead of a sad one and so on and so on, pretty funny details if you ask me! On other news, I'm sure many of you are as excited about the next generation consoles and their games as I am and being somewhat of a Nintendo fanboy I can't help being over-excited about the GameCube. I was looking at the Luigi's Mansion website the other day and browsed through the history book of games Luigi once featured in, only to find this page:

*You'll find Luigi in the crowd to the left when you're playing those bonus games in Mario Clash

Busy times - November 19, 2001 @ 12:36 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Not much of an update this time, more of a notification with a big promise at the end.
OmeBa is busy getting himself on track for work and I'm right smack in the middle of exams now, so in a chat we had a while ago we both agreed that at the end of this month we'd get together online for a entire Sunday (with the time difference between Australia & Holland that'll probably be a midday) and make a huge update together. Meaning we'll finally put all the VB infos we have on our computers on the site and probably add two or more sections in the process. That way we'll get peace of mind everything VB we know is on the website so it won't get lost and you'll get the joy of finding out more about Virtual Boy stuff and believe me it WILL get even more interesting sooner or later.
"everything VB" gets a whole new meaning in the future, which is why we're sure we can take this page fresh into next year and maybe beyond! Last time I checked the webspace was paid for for another 2 to 3 years, so we're not going anywhere anytime soon. Vote on the poll and keep those fanlist submissions coming and don't forget to... VB on!

Happy Halloween - October 31, 2001 @ 11:00 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Jack Bros. just happens to be a game taking place on Halloween, so I figured I might as well update the Reviews Section with 20 NEW reviews including Jack Bros.! They took me A LOT of time and effort to write, so I hope someone out there can appreciate them. Hope everyone likes the new Jack Bros. frontpage tune! I'm also working on the Links and a new FAQ section. Yes, I've been a busy boy ^_^

Strange much? - October 22, 2001 @ 04:48 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
I was just playing Mario's Tennis for a review (almost finished all, wohoo!) and after 20 minutes all of a sudden the game freezes up as the ball changes into a square, with the sound still on the game moves again a few seconds later to display a strange wall of rubble at the left side (kind of resembles the net close-up at the startup movie, only tucked together into one interrupted line), a few counts later and the wall of "rubble" moves to the right side of the screen to later on fall apart in a hundred pieces that bounce onto the ground a couple of times to vanish thereafter. A little later my computer buddy moves for a split second and another (less crowded with pieces) line appears at the middle of the left side of the court (same place as the first), and the music stops as the entire game, along with the controls which I already couldn't get to work, freezes up now. Both lines seemed to run right from the top to the bottom of the screen, maybe this happened because I was using an old Blockbuster rental Mario's Tennis copy instead of the one I got with my new VB. Make of this what you want, but today I learned that Koopa is cross-eyed as he keeps staring at me like that... motionless, oh jeez, I think I'd better turn my VB off before that really starts to freak me out. Although Virtual Lab was the first game that had the honor of rebooting itself, this however was the first time I ever had a game freeze up on itself. Other than a little dust the contacts seem clean. Hmmm. Any ideas what might have caused this? Anyone had this happen too?

Almost done - October 02, 2001 @ 09:33 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
I want this next update to be perfect, I need a little more time to fix up the 50+ new unreleased game pictures, although I scanned them at a very high resolution a lot of white spots seem to be in the scans (dust, false printing, in that line). I want to clean that up so the backgrounds I'm making out of them will look awedropping, look especially forward to Dragon Hopper game art!

Major site update - September 23, 2001 @ 11:22 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
I have been and will be doing a site update (partly in conference with Omeba), I haven't uploaded anything new yet, but when I do the site will be TWICE as big as it is right now (both text and images added to all sections), it's not all fun and games, plowing out 100 Japanese links and translating them for information is a real pain, not to mention adding 300 articles, making 10 new wallpapers and LOTS of unreleased game info to the page has already taken over 20 hours!@#$%! For now: sleep... bed... zzzzz.

I am Selling My copy of "Space Squash" For the Nintendo Virtual Boy. It is Brand New and has never been opened!

From Ferrys Review: "In short: This game has really nice 3D effects, you will have to get used to positioning the ball on the playfield but once you master that, the game has no limit to it¹s fun, the programmers have done a good job at re-newing the classic game Pong. My opinion: The best Japanese only game I have played so far!. Just get this game if you can."

US Terrorists Attacks - September 11, 2001 @ 14:45 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
I hope those of you in the US are all right and I wish the same for your friends, family, and other loved ones. Words can't described the horrors I've seen on TV the past days as I saw the second plane 'crash' on CNN live. Really shocking, I just couldn't believe my eyes. Let's hope those responsible can be tracked down and punished for their acts against humanity.

Intermediate report - September 7, 2001 @ 15:23 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Hey how's it going fans? How I'm doing? Sick, headache, but thanks for asking!
In between headaches I try to do some work on the site. I found 100 Japanese VB pages which I'm ripping information from, pictures, valuable info, even when I get better I'll still need a day or more to read it all! (will put all the links up too) I've already added 2 pages of info and possibly found 7 new unreleased game titles! The translations are hard to understand and I'm having my Japanese friends do a cross-check. If it all works out you can expect some very important updates the coming month. Don't forget to join the competition, only one day left...

Win a GBA QUAD! - August 14, 2001 @ 2:17 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Seeing as my virtual co-webmaster is so keen on GBA, I might just as well throw in a bit of Gameboy Advance lovin' too.
Nintendo of Holland (or NOE if you prefer) is seriously promoting the GBA countrywide over here with a promo team that crosses around the country this month on TornadoDXL-50 Quads, each equipped with 4 GBA's and the latest games for everyone to play and if you live in the Benelux (Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg) you can even send in a digital postcard (print it out first ofcourse) and win many great GBA prizes, the first prize of which is an awesome TornadoDXL-50 Quad with GBA design! Now that's what I'd like to call portable fun!!
VIEW THE COMMERCIAL POSTCARD AD HERE
Well, I will just have to keep walking around on my summer travels looking like a complete idiot with my Virtual Boy headset as I don't have a GBA yet *whines* "VB's really portable you know... ouch... my nose hurts"

Rareware's VB Donkey Kong Country 2 - August 13, 2001 @ 7:55 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Thanks for your concern Omeba, all is well with me and the car now, you got to hate those car-radio thieves, but on to better (read: awesome) news!
Rareware
's Leigh Loveday replied to My Letter (halfway the page's Scribes section) I send them after our May 20 update:

Dear Scribes,
In reply to your response to Adam Murray's letter, I'm afraid I'm probably to blame for that rumor as I posted you as the developer of the Virtual Boy unreleased Goldeneye 007 game on my website (www.virtual-boy.net) a while back along with a big scan of an in-game screenshot from an official Nintendo brochure, it seemed only logical as I thought Rare owned the Goldeneye license to making games of it in 1995, any idea who did if not you?
Oh, and why are you not allowed to say Virtual Boy Donkey Kong Country was in development? I realize not much code could have been finished in a few weeks work, but I also heard a designer had been at work on the game, is there any chance you'd be able to give out some artwork from the unreleased game? New Virtual Boy info is pretty hard to come by these days you know.
Faithfully yours,
Ferry Groenendijk from The Netherlands
PS: The picture of GoldenEye 007 I scanned is pretty big, so I will just link you to it.

I guess we'll have to adjust some infos on our site concerning the unreleased VB 007GoldenEye & VB DKC2 (^_^)
The Donkey Kong experts at Donkey Kong's Jungle Vine website reported further at Rare's responds with some interesting bits which you can read HERE.
Also added 10 new names to the VB Fanlist.

To cheer Ferry and everyone else up I have some exciting news AND something to show off. Watch this space closely over the next few months as there is going to be a MAJOR surprise in store for Virtual-Boy.net. We Can't tell you what it is, but it is big enough to make our viewers stand up and take notice. Stay tuned!

On a quick side note, I will be adding my other sections to this site very soon, I have had alot of problems over the last few months and hopefully everything will clear up soon so I can get back to how it was.
Now enough of the sadness and secrets, here is my LATEST arrival. Mario Kart Advance for the GBA! It arrived today and man is it awesome!!! This is a must have game for the Game Boy Advance, Please check out my pictures of it below.

6th Birthday - July 21, 2001 @ 11:49 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Today, six years ago, Nintendo's Virtual Boy was launched in Japan, selling 50,000 games the first month, but no more than 180,000 games in whole of 1995, if you're wondering why this is knowing that only 140,000 hardware units were sold in '95/'96? It's because of one of the main reasons the VB failed to meet Nintendo's sales expectations: the software just cost too freakishly much, to show you this I've updated the Games Section with all the JPN sofware release's original price-tags.
Also added the very cool
Nintendoid website to the links section as they have a nice Virtual Boy section up now!

BACK after beep-beep beep-beep - June 17, 2001 @ 01:11 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Happy Birthday OmeBa!!!
Three weeks down the road my computer is fixed again, it's heart gave up just after the last update and started making fire-engine alarm sounds, not very pleasant.
What else has been going on? Well, I received 2 Virtual Boy packages from Japan, I'm pretty excited about these deals because it was the first time I dealt with people that didn't speak one word English or used a translator, so it was mostly up to me to arrange, I got a Mosaic pattern Japanese VB box and a small Japanese VB counter display unit!! Yes, I'm a happy virtual boy *most obvious pun ever!*
Seeing as my computer had broken down and my N64 is lend out, I didn't have too much to do mid-week, so I decided to make a complete and extensive VB Wario Land guide, so look at the NEW Guides Section if you're stuck in the game somewhere.
Also added new TRICKS for Mario Clash.
I did a HUGE update on the Accessories Section for many new items, I also divided everything there into different pages for faster loading (yes finally!), further on pictures and scans were added to the Games Section & the Articles Section, all this together brings 175 new pictures to the site ^_^

Depressed mood - May 27, 2001 @ 10:45 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
At the moment we are changing servers in order to make this page load faster and to make sure we will not go down for a long long time, the new server comes with unlimited webspace, so expect many new articles to read in the future;
Today I failed to obtain a completely documented Japanese Virtual Boy Development Kit, so do not expect anything from me the coming week if not longer, the loss of this priceless information source saddens me deeply.

HOT news 2, read all about it! - May 20, 2001 @ 11:30 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Rare Ware denies ever developing GoldenEye 007 for the Virtual Boy!
The on UK grounds based Rare (a Nintendo second party) videogame company website's Scribes section (send in a letter & you might get a responds from Rare's team themselves) there was a very interesting letter and responds earlier this month, I quote:
QUESTION:
Dear Rare Ware,
It has come to my attention that you developed and produced yet never released a Goldeneye 007 game for the Virtual Boy. I am aware that most companies keep things like that around for such occasions as if maybe the system is rereleased or other such needs. I am also aware that it was a driving game unlike the FPS that you made for the 64. I would like to find out if it is possible for me to acquire one of these games. I know you must get these questions all the time, however I feel that my request differs from all the others in that I don't want to get this game to sit it on a shelf or to sell like so many others would. I would like this for what it was originally intended for, to play and enjoy. I feel that since it was stamped with your company's name on it that it must be a great game. I have Goldeneye for 64 and Banjo Kazooie and other Rare games and have become a great fan of Rare. Especially your depiction of Bond. I am willing to pay you for the game if it is accessible. I don't need anything fancy like the retail package as there probably wasn't one. But if you would be so kind as to grant me this one request I would be appreciative. From one game player to another I don't think that the hard work that went into this game should go to waste, it should be enjoyed by the masses.
Sincerely
Adam Murray

ANSWER:
Rare Ware: Wow! A brand new rumour. I'm almost excited. Out of curiosity, where did you get this information? Sorry to disappoint you, but it's the first we've heard of it - the only 007 racing game that we know of is the recent PlayStation effort, and we've certainly never worked on one ourselves.
As it happens we did have a Virtual Boy game in development at one stage, but I'm not going to tell you what it was - partly because I don't know if I'm allowed to, and partly because it will amuse me to keep you in suspense.

Note: Silly Rare think they have this big mysterious secret, hehe, click here, anyway, I send them a responds asking for VB DKC designer art, it's a long shot, but at least I'm trying.

Game Boy Advance hits "Our" Shelves - May 10, 2001 @ 1:06 PM GMT+8 ~ OmeBa
One of the Virtual Boys closest competition at it's time was the Game Boy, portable, small and sold worldwide the Game Boy has come along way. Now with the recent Japanese release of the Game Boy Advance and US and Europe on their way I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. As a progression from the original Game Boy to the Virtual Boy and Game Boy Color the Game Boy Advance is next in the line up. Although it won't play your Virtual Boy games it will play all your B/W, Pocket, Color and ofcourse GB Advance games.

My little unit arrived the other day and man was I impressed! The screen is much wider than the Game Boy Color, and it seems everything is very compact. Most of the switches are located underneath the GBA such as power switch, headphone jack and volume control with the link port on the top. The carts are VERY small lets say about half the size of original Game Boy carts. As I got the Japanese version the box art is so much cooler! The GBA box and game boxes are long ways instead of the normal style boxes. Now the graphics are awesome, I would say snes quality and even better in some areas. I suggest you use headphones to get full enjoyment from the sound of the machine. With the screen alot of people say it is very reflective, well it is but not any worse than the Game Boy Color, also with the screen you can switch older Game Boy games to wide screen or back to normal but for most games I have seen it just distorts the image and looks better in original smaller mode. Just to let you know there is no country lockout for games!

For all the Australian readers out there the latest news is that the Game Boy advance on release of the 22nd of June 2001 will now be priced at $199AU and Games will be between $69 to $79AU and the "unconfirmed" Aussie only color Smokey Black may make an appearance a little after launch. Well I am awaiting my next game "FZero" which is on it's way in the next few hours but in the meantime check out this picture of my Game Boy Advances

In today's site makeover, Nintendo finally adds a Virtual Boy section to their renewed American homepage. Quotes like "a dedicated group of gamers who love Virtual Boy's unique style are always on a quest to complete their collections." bring tears to my eyes since they show Nintendo has finally come to reason and stepped above the marketing failure the VB was and see it as an awesome classic system (in my vision: ahead of it's time) worthy of a place in Nintendo history. NEW VB sites & Queens Day - May 01, 2001 @ 23:08 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
An update with a delay, but I haven't been sitting still as I'm a guestwriter at Defunct Games now! An awesome classic & new gamesreviews website, go check them out, they have tons of interesting reviews and articles.
I have some really great news for you all! There are 2 new VB pages in our midst, but first off the welcome return of a classic VB fan-site VirtualBoy2000 by Vidyogamer, let's pray he won't forget his password again ;-P. The first new VB site is one of Jose who is an avid VB collector and who searched for lots of VB information, he found them and has compiled everything including new bits on his Virtual Boy website. The most exiting/biggest VB adjustment project since The HMDVB comes from Pat with his VB Rumble Pack project! That's right, actually make Teleroboxer long lasting fun with the (by yourself added on own risk) rumble pack feature!! Other news: Has anyone else noticed that the new domain-name for The Red Area has been activated recently? This could mean that this old die-hard VB site will make a return soon.
On a more personal note I have typed out my very awkward experience that was Queens Day:

Yesterday I went to Amsterdam to visit this huge open-air concert (I heard 150.000 people attended) with heaps of international stars like Destiny's Child, Venga Boys, Nelly "I am only 3 inches / 1 meter tall" Fortado, etc., it was really cool and we had a blast, but then when we went home at 8pm (as we thought we'd outsmart the bigger crowd of people going with the train at 9pm) things didn't go as planned...

Here's the scoop on the riots at the Amsterdam Central Station April 30th on Queens day (the queens mother birthday, and the celebration of the queens birthday), I was there all day and 5 metres away from when the M.E.(aka special) police shot the first teargas canister into the 100.000 to 700.000 people crowd in front of the central station, because some rioting groups were trying to push over the police vans that were blocking the bridges leading to the central station, later on when the drunks came out of the bars and wanted to get out of the city and couldn't because the trains and busses didn't drive anymore (the entire central station was closed because it was completely filled and people started pulling emergency brakes and walking on the traintracks followed by them literally tearing the station apart! not 1 sign survived!), me and 3 friends were standing outside since the M.E. police blocked the bridges leading to the central station to prevent people from crushing eachother in there. They said it would take half and hour, but it took 4 hours in total, so people got really irritated, but even more so because the police was ordered to stop anyone new from entering the central station, so they kept on using teargas and when peoples patience snapped, they started barging into the police who hit back with bat charges, rubber bullets shots and even more teargas, and believe me: teargas sucks!!! I almost puked, I ran away along with everyone while screaming "TEARGAS, BACK OFF", but I was too close, and I could see next to nothing as I looked right into a teargas cloud when it landed 16 inches / 5 metres away from me (and we had already backed away from the rioting people when they started throwing rocks and what-not to the M.E. police). Worst of all was that the wind kept blowing the smoke clouds from the new teargas into the large street everyone fled into, result: people around us crying, barfing, fainting and some flipping like they had some muscle spasm disease :-(
I felt really sorry for the old ladies and mothers with young children who could not run away very fast, offering something to drink and water for washing out their eyes is the best we could do, while the police did nothing, the *******s!
To make things worse, entire mobile phone networks went dead, so no calling home, but what do you expect from 1,1 million people visiting Amsterdam at the same time.

All in all a pretty exiting yet painful experience (my face -mostly eyes- were swollen up bad 12 hours later! teargas is a nightmare!). At midnight we decided to head back to the central station once again (for the fifth time), and you guessed it! we were gassed again!! we ran past it to the left side and we were barely away or the police started using the high pressure water cannon to spread out the crowd (rebelling groups had totally wrecked the environment around the station, starting with the sign "possible traindelay" hehe). At 1am we found a small bridge leading into the back of the trainstation and we got in and caught a train that took 4 hours to take us to Rotterdam and had half the seats torn out, well no train home for me, but it was always better than having to spend the night on the streets in Amsterdam, luckily I could stay over at a friends friends house, I didn't get back home until evening dinner the day after, even the trip back took hours longer, pffff.
The above story took 2 days instead of the planned 8 hours.
As for me... I can't feel my legs, I need my bed.... ZZZZZzzzzzzzz...

April Fools Day! - April 6, 2001 @ 07:22 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Our apology for our nasty April 1st joke, ofcourse we will not shut down! Anyway the April 1st page can now be found HERE. You got to admit that it looks pretty smooth for our first combined project (maybe we should make it our front-page?) But to make it up to all you Virtual Boy fans I've scanned the only existing James Bond "GoldenEye 007" screenshot, increased the size by factor 10 and edited it into a nice background file for you to view HERE (right click the picture with your mouse & select Set as Wallpaper) or download it HERE :-)

The HUGE box - March 23, 2001 @ 11:45 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
*doorbell rings at noon* Before even opening the front-door I could hear the postman's back sight and scream under some pressure, upon opening the door he had this thing... this huge... this gigantic shipment box in his hands and set it down on the ground, I tried to remember what this could be and remembered when I signed the customs form which read "from Canada", I had to hold my feelings of over-enjoyment after almost 2 months of waiting to myself for a little longer as the box almost didn't fit through our front-door!! I had to hold the box vertically to not scrape my fingers off! As quickly as I could I grabbed a kitchen-knife and rushed to open the package unveiling a "Small" Display Unit! It now stands proudly in my room practically as good as new:

In all the excitement (well... my excitement, hehe) I'd almost forget that I have added some storylines to & also brightened up all the pictures in The Games Section!

Ben's HMD VB - March 11, 2001 @ 05:55 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Last week was a sad week as Ben from The HMD VB (The Head-Mounted Display Virtual Boy) announced that he will stop updating his page. But have no fear as he promised to keep the site and with it all the VB manuals and HMD guide online; Better news is that we will soon have a new Virtual Boy page in our middle, more on that later when it is unveiled; We've added an easy to fill out and send form on the Readers Tribute Section, so there's no need to send emails anymore, just fill it out & send it in and we'll have your fond memories a few seconds later. And since we're now Virtual-Boy.Net (and since the former guestbook was deleted) there's a new Guestbook in place *hint hint* ;-D

Dreamcast Betas - February 26, 2001 @ 01:01 & 40 seconds PM GMT+8 ~ OmeBa
I guess your thinking what has the Dreamcast got to do with the Virtual Boy? Well if you know me I like to report about other gaming systems from time to time. But the Dreamcast is going the way of the Virtual Boy fast, Sega have already dropped out of the console market and are moving on to software. As I see it the Dreamcast like the Virtual Boy was ahead of it's time in terms of the public being ready for such a machine and it just isn't selling as it should. I love the damn thing and can't see why it would have failed. Anyway I managed to get hold of some Dreamcast Beta Games

Ah the memories - February 23, 2001 @ 01:03 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Added a new section to the site: Reader Tributes (I hope you will send in your fond memories of the VB)
Found site updates by: PlanetVB & Virtual-E!! (awesome updates)
Oh and happy birthday
David Tucker! (may things look up for you very soon)

Real VB demo unit frenzy - February 22, 2001 @ 12:05 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Clearly support for Virtual Boy is at an all time low (did it ever peak?), no Virtual Boy related websites are updated or hardly anymore; I guess this is where the Die Hards come through! ^_-
You see, just when I thought my luck had run out, I find a small Virtual Boy Demo Unit for sale! So guess what's coming my way very soon? A DEMO UNIT!!! This is one of those VB Display Units American consumers got to use back in 1995 to playtest VB games in stores such as Wal*Mart, here's a snapshot, ain't she a beauty?

Birthday update - February 10, 2001 @ 04:17 & 20 seconds AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Guess what? 20 years and 20 seconds ago I was born, now that's a weird feeling! especially since I feel so old, while I'm really not, and even if I would be old, I'd soon get a head-mounted Virtual Boy unit to make me appear old and crazy, there! that sounds a lot better!
*I'm just a headmounted virtual boy, don't mind me*
*hmmm I wonder how I'd look wearing this on my head while walking around on the streets... ;-)*

No VB demo unit :-( - February 08, 2001 @ 01:10 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Well it was worth the risk, but the Demo Unit mentioned in January 14th update, turned out to be nothing more than a white delivery box with a normal loose VB unit in, so I more or less traded it in for a complete Game.Com handheld collection! (3 systems+all 20(?) games, all brand new sealed!) Not a bad trade if I say so myself, especially seeing as the system died 2 or 4 years ago, then again, maybe I'm just saying that to make me feel less guilty about not having this:

Weird Shit Zone Link - January 29, 2001 @ 03:13 AM GMT+8 ~ OmeBa
Hi, I'm OmeBa from The Weird Shit Zone, now in together with Ferry at Virtual-Boy.Net. As my first update I'm re-linking my old site, so soon you will be able to view the previous sites before the merger (because soon my old page will be redirected to this address). Also I am selling my Brand New Space Squash which is complete and unopened. Small creases in box but otherwise excellent. Email OmeBa with offers.

Multi-language site coming up! - January 28, 2001 @ 01:34 AM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese language versions of Virtual-Boy.Net will be added this year!! ...ok ok... will be added SOON!! ^_^
Ben's HMD VB Page has a changed link, so be sure to update your bookmark & check out the Links section for the most 'recent' updated online VB resources.

VB Demo Unit frenzy - January 14, 2001 @ 16:30 PM GMT+1 ~ FerryG
It's just not fair! I have to turn the heat in the house up high to stay warm because it's freezing here all day long in Holland, but OmeBa is relaxing on a beach in Australia because he's in the middle of a heat-wave!
Apparently the http://ww.virtual-boy.net link goes down from time to time, so maybe it's best for me to mention in between lines that http://home.wish.net/~ferryg will work just fine if the first mentioned does not.
This week I bought a Japanese Virtual Boy which I will inspect upon arrival very carefully indeed, seeing as the box isn't quite your average VB unit box:

Looks like I found myself a VB Demo Unit with box, but it's nothing fancy like the two on the accessories section, just a common VB unit, but I wonder what the stand will look like, serial number is vn100014044.

01 January 2001: I wish everyone a happy & prosperous New Year! Here are 7 new unreleased Dragon Hopper pictures; VIRTUAL BOY LIVES ON!!
