VIRTUAL BOY WARIO LAND:

There are treasures in levels: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13 and every level has a key to get to the next level.
All the levels with treasures in them also have one, two or more diamonds (1 up) in them, if you see a suspicious block, rock or piece of wall, try to blast or bash your way through it (and beyond if needed, I personally try to destroy everything I see or don't see) and you will probably find a hidden room with an extra life in it (I say this because got really tired of typing half a page about where to find one or two diamonds in a level, so I haven't typed out where to find all diamonds, I'm sure you can easily find them yourself), and besides if you need extra lives, play the heart game at the end of each level.
*To do a IPD (Inter Pupil Distance) adjustment mid-game, press start followed by select.
*Look at VBWL's manual page 17 where you are pointed out to "The Serect Screen" instead of "The Select Screen" ... ok I know I had something better to do... euhm... oh yes let us start the guide!

Level 1 (grotto distress):

Tip: Do not bash the horned toad enemies to death (that will only get you one coin), instead jump on them to stun them, then pick one up by standing right next to it, then look for the cloud with a coin on it that floats around the level, when you have carried your stunned enemy to the cloud, throw it in the cloud to get a big coin worth 20 coins!

Tip 2: Always try to remain Bull Wario or higher, because regular Wario will not be able to destroy all blocks that often lead to secret items/area's.

Treasure: Use the first Jump Board to get into the background, then bash away the six blocks that were preventing your  progress further into the level, once gone they will reveal an entrance door, go inside to pick up your first treasure.

Key: Use the first Jump Board to get into the background, then walk halfway through the background to the right to find a Jump Board that will launch you to the foreground where the key is located surrounded by lava.

Level 2 (guarded prison):

Tip: When Bull Wario, use his Body Slam to start an earthquake often, not only will your enemies be stunned from a distance, you will also find many items in the ground, in some structures as well, and hidden Jump Board(s) too.

Key: Enter the first pipe in the level, cross the two rooms inside, to find yourself exiting the pipe in the background, pass the four blocks to see an individual fifth block, stomp it and there is the key.

Tip 2: After grabbing the key, go back into the foreground and walk to the right just as long untill you find a sort of stairway up towards the right, use Bull Wario (Hint: if you are small go stand to the right of, next to the first pipe, and jump untill you reveal the Viking helmet) to do a Body Slam on the second stair revealing a door that leads to an extra life/diamond!

Treasure: At the end of the level, go stand to the right of the pipe and blast away the fire-blocks using Sea Dragon Wario's fire breath, enter the pipe, go left and watch out for enemies (the scull on the ceiling) because you have to stay Sea Dragon Wario, then enter the next pipe up, go to the right and blast/fire away the fire-block to reveal a door leading to the treasure.

Level 3 (underwater mayhem):

Tip: Sea Dragon Wario gets rid of all the enemies easily, make sure you keep it and do not forget to use it's fire-breath on all the big stone blocks.

Key: When you are in the room, after the room with the bubble currents that push you down, instead of entering the pipe on the top-right, blast/destroy the block(s) at the top-left and enter the opening. Bash the first block you come across in the secret room and the key will appear.

Tip 2: After grabbing the key, going back through the opening and then entering the next room through the pipe (at the top-right), you go all the way to the right untill you see four fire-blocks, first bash the two big blocks before it and then fire away the fire-blocks, enter the secret room through the above pipe to find an extra life.

Treasure: At the end of the level (near the exit elevator) get hit by one of those rotating spiky balls (so you become small Wario), then hit the questionmark-block, grab the Viking helmet, go back down the last ladder and do a Body Slam on the big block under the ladder to reveal a door leading to the treasure.

Level 4 (first boss):

Key: Defeat the boss to get the key (no treasure in boss levels, but you will get many coins at the end!).

Tip: When the boss is in the background swinging his spiky ball at you keep moving quickly (moving/dashing with the L or R button and of course bashing will work fine), when the boss jumps to the foreground try hitting him on the head right away, do this three times to win.

Level 5 (crowded forest):

Tip: Keep going through the left(bottom) pipes until you reach the room after the room where you have to keep jumping into the back- and foreground, when you have entered the room after that, go stand right above the Jump Board (in the middle of the room), do a Body Slam to reach the Jump Board, now go into the background, towards the right, blast away the tree-log with Dragon Wario's fire-breath, enter the door to the secret room. In the room blast away as many tree pieces and fire-blocks as possible and bash yourself through to the left until you get to the spikes on the floor, do not try and fly accross the spikes, instead stand just before the spikes and jump up while using King Dragon Wario's fire-breath to unveil a few hidden blocks at half your jump height. Fly onto the now unveiled blocks to find a life/diamond to the left!

Key: At the last room (where the elevator is located) go from bottom to top and when you see the first stairs going up (at the right side of the screen) climb it all the way up, bash the questionmark-block above the (long) stairs to reveal the key, chip away the two blocks and jump to reach the key.

Treasure: Go stand at the bottom of the stairs you used to get to the key, from the bottom fly all the way to the other/left side. You should now be between two branches, let Wario face the tree-wall on the left side and destroy that tree-wall to create an opening to go through. Fire or bash away the trees at the left from standing atop the blocks in the secret room, then walk to the far left side of the room, now go stand on the ground letting Wario face to the right, now fire or bash away tree pieces until you reveal a door, go in the door to find the treasure!

Level 6 (dangerous waterfalls):

Tip: When you enter the part of the level with the big waterfall, go directly to the other side from where you are standing, meaning you should go to the left side of where the waterfall touches the water, blast or bash away the rock you see at the left side of Wario to make an opening, go into the opening and go all the way to the left in the secret part of the level until you reach a thick wall, blast or bash away that wall (on the left side of course) to find an extra life/diamond!

Key: When you enter the part of the level with the big waterfall, swim or jump up, but stay on the most right side of the waterfall, until you see a closed of pipe, crawl under it to the right, chip away the cracked blocks at the right of the pipe and enter the pipe. In the following room, go right, down, left (watch out for the dark tortoises that throw their spiked hats at you) and enter the next room where you must hit the second to last (looking from right to left) questionmark-block to get the key.

Treasure: When you enter the part of the level with the big waterfall, swim or jump up, but stay on the most left side of the waterfall, until you see a half black/half red sun switch, step on the switch, but do NOT move and wait until all the rocks have fallen down, then use the Jump Board to leap into the background and enter the door in the background to find the treasure.

Tip 2: After you reached the top of the big waterfall and entered the next room with the many fast currents, don't enter the pipe at the far left right away, instead follow the current down to the lowest part of the room and make sure you are King Dragon Wario (the two questionmark-blocks at the top of the room contain the needed hats to become King Dragon Wario), the moment Wario faces right at the bottom current, blast a fire-shot to the right to destroy the two fire-blocks, then enter the opening at the bottom you just made and at the left in the secret room you will find another extra life/diamond!

Level 7 (quicksand desert):

Tip: At the part of the level where the big sand thing enemy is blocking the way, chip away the bottom block of the row of three stone-blocks right after (left from) the last quicksand, that will make way for the black whirlwind with eyes to reach the big sand thing enemy and destroy it for you, revealing the door to the next room.

Tip 2: After you exit the small room where you see the first mastah mosquito, you will enter a bigger room where the second mastah mosquito is ready to sting you (make sure you are and stay King Dragon Wario), kill the mosquito and jump on the single block above you, then jump on the two blocks above that, now instead of going higher, fly all the way to the left from the two blocks(on the right), quickly use your fire breath to destroy the four fire-blocks on the left, now fly over to the place where you just blast away the four fire-blocks and you will see a door, enter it to get into the secret room, now make your way to the left using King Dragon Wario's fire and get yourself an extra life/diamond!

Key: After you exit the room with the two mosquito's (where you also found the door to the diamond) through the pipe, you will come to a room where you can crawl to the left (instead of jumping up right away to unveil a hidden block), crawl to the left, jump up and then go down into the water, then go to the left in the water until you see the key floating on the water in a space sealed off by two cracked blocks, chip away the blocks and get the key.

Treasure: After you exit the room with the two mosquito's (where you also found the door to the diamond) through the pipe, you will come to a room where you can jumping up right away (at the left side of the opening you see at the beginning of the room) to unveil a hidden block, jump on the block you just uncovered and then jump up onto the platform left of it, now you see a lone block above you, jump on that block (almost entirely on the right side of the screen), then make Wario face left (make sure you are King Dragon Wario) and jump as high as possible and fly to the left, when you reach a wall of brick stones on the left, quickly fire twice to make an opening in the wall, now go back onto the lone block and fly into the room behind the opening you just made. At the end of the room (outer left side) use the Jump Board to jump into the background. Move towards the top-right of the background room, under the top-right (let's call it middle-right) you should see an opening with a questionmark-block, get into that space (make sure you are anything above regular Wario), now go to the right (jump over the blocks that form a kind of stairs) and blast/bash away the stone brick wall to unveil a door, enter the door to get into another room. Walk, jump and fly all the way to the right in this room to find the door that leads to the treasureroom!

Level 8 (second boss):

Key: Defeat the boss to get the key (no treasure in boss levels, but you will get many coins at the end!).

Tip: When the boss is about to hit you with it's needle nose you will hear a high sound, quickly move away from where you are standing and the boss will miss you, now if you went to the right side wait a small moment, then jump to the left side from where the boss just tried to hit you (and took away a block while trying to hit you), the boss will wonder where you are for a second (see the: ?), now you can quickly jump on his head (dodge left, go right and hit the boss or dodge right, go left and hit the boss), do this 3 times to win.

Level 9 (fruit farm):

Tip: Watch carefully at what the honey-bees throw at you, it's not always bombs, sometimes it's melons which you can pick up as well (stand directly under the bee).

Tip 2: When you are standing on a moving/spinning machine-tire (on which the honey-bees try to hit you with bombs) do not jump over the hole at the end of them, instead stand put and you will get into hidden rooms.

Key: When you reach the part of the level where you see a second switch with the "PUT ON" sign where you should drop a melon on (simply press down when you are holding the melon next to the switch), but there is nothing to block your way, do not walk past, but look at the background and you will see you have to aim a melon onto the moving seesaw in the background to get the key (Hint: drop the melon on the switch the moment the seesaw appears on the left).

Tip 3: After the room where you get the key, you will see a room with two huge melons (I'm talking about fruit, mind you, sorry girls, but some guys...), destroy the first melon to reveal a door. Enter the room behind the door, but instead of going down the stairs, fly to the left from the top of the stairs/room and fire away the big block to unveil an extra life/diamond!

Tip 4: When you are on the third moving/spinning machine-tire, make sure you fall into the first of the two holes to reach a secret room, use the Jump Board in this room to get into the background, now blast or bash away the melons you see at the right, enter the door you have unveiled to come into a small passageway, bash or blast away the melons at the right and there is your extra life/diamond.

Treasure: After the third moving/spinning machine-tire, you will see another (launch-)switch, get two melons into the two baskets in the background to destroy the sleeping melon and unveil a door leading to the treasure!

Level 10 (spooky mansion):

Tip: Defeat the eerie smiley faces with their own spawn.

Tip: Following the level to the right, go the second place where you can see Jump Boards in the background (but not in the foreground), bash the ground in that room as long until you make a small opening in the floor, go through the opening to land in a hidden room, walk down the with blocks formed stairs to the left and stand on the ground facing the blocks formed stairs to the right of you now, fire away some of the blocks to find an extra life/diamond! After that follow the rooms to the left until you reach last room, blast/bash away all the wooden crates there to get another diamond! Go back into the room where you found the entrance to the last two diamonds, go up the first stairs, go left, go up the second stairs, go left into that room, then go all the way left using King Dragon Wario, at the end fire away the stone block and enter the door to find two more diamonds!!

Treasure: Following the level to the right, go the second place where you can see Jump Boards in the background (but not in the foreground), go up the first stairs there, then go to the left into the opening there (at the bottom of the second stairs). Walk left until you see the Jump Board, go into the background and enter the door. Go left (well duh!) in the next room and enter yet another door, now you have arrived in another background room, fly to the far right there and stay at the top of the room! Land on the lone block and let King Dragon Wario face right and blast away the wall to unveil a door, enter the door to get to the next room, crawl to the door at the right in that room and enter it to get the treasure.

Key: Following the level to the right, go the second place where you can see Jump Boards in the background (but not in the foreground), go up the first stairs there, then go to the left into the opening there (at the bottom of the second stairs). Walk left until you see the Jump Board, go into the background and enter the door. Go left (well duh!) in the next room and enter yet another door, now you have arrived in another background room (this is near where you got the treasure), go all the way down and enter the door, from now on you will go: right & enter the door, left & enter the door, left & enter the door, left & enter the door, now you will finally arrive at a room with three clocks, notice how the middle clock is moving much faster than the other two. Wait for the clocks to open, then kill the two coo-coos and get the key in the middle.

Level 11 (machine madness):

Tip: Make sure you stay Dragon Wario or higher and walk the level to the right until you see four fire-blocks, blast them away to unveil a door that leads to two extra lives/diamonds!

Treasure: After you walk through the first part of the level and go through the opening to reach the second part, keep a close eye on how the first few flickering boards move, you will notice they move up instead of down, go stand on one of them and you will be thrown into the background! But watch out because the chemical dripping enemy machines will move with you from the foreground to the background. Now that you are in the background walk to the right until the third chemical dripping enemy machine comes into the background to you, now walk right and go over the high (almost black) vertical blocks, go stand on top of the right side of these seven rows of vertical blocks and do a Body Slam, now go stand at the right side of the remaining five blocks and let Wario face the blocks to bash/blast the rocks at the left of him away until you unveil a door leading to the treasure!

Key: After you went by the first part of the level with wind-blowers and entered the second part that has wind-blowers (you will see only one at first), go stand on the wind-blower to take you up, when you are being taken up with the second wind-blower go to the left where there are two more wind-blowers, let them take you up and try to go to the left as far as possible to grab the key.

Tip: If you want to become King Dragon Wario but can't find the Eagle Statue & Dragon Crystal go to the second part of the level that has wind-blowers (you will see only one at first), make sure you are big and bash/blast away the two blocks at the right from the first wind-blower you see there to unveil a pipe leading to the needed power ups.

Level 12 (third boss):

Key: Defeat the boss to get the key (no treasure in boss levels, but you will get many coins at the end!).

Tip: When the boss is about to hit you with bombs and lasers from the background, use the Jump Boards to jump into the background yourself, the boss will jump to the foreground and try to hit you with bombs and lasers again, now you must already be standing on the Jump Boards and jump into the foreground and hit the boss on the top, then the boss will come out of it's "kettle" and you must try to jump on it's head, do this 3 times to win.

Level 13 (temple of doom):

Treasure: This treasure is the hardest of all to find... NOT!!! Hehehe! Prepare to hit yourself on the head if you missed this secret. When you enter level 13, become Bull Wario by grabbing the Garlic Bottle in the first questionmark-block (you see it right away), turn around to the left, to the elevator you entered the level in. Now barge away the elevator-piece on top of the normal elevator to see a door, enter it to get the treasure.

Key: Make your way to the first room with the thorn-ball enemies in them, above the thorn-ball (the bee that shoots thorn balls to Wario) that is in the foreground you must chip away two (invisible) blocks from the ceiling unveiling a pipe, enter the pipe to get into a background room, walk all the way to the right here and when you can't go any further bash or fire three times getting rid of the blocks and unveiling a door. Again you will enter a room with thorn-ball enemies, above the thorn-ball that is in the foreground you must chip away two (invisible) blocks from the ceiling unveiling yet another pipe, enter the pipe and upon exiting the pipe walk right into the next room. Be careful and stay focussed as you cross the next quiet but dangerous room and enter the pipe at the end, in the following room filled with thorn-ball enemies go left and enter the door, now you will have exited in a background room, walk a little to the left (but stay on the platform) and use your head once again to chip away some blocks, enabling you to jump on the platforms above you, follow the platforms up until you reach the door at the right side of the top of the room (do not go into the door at the top-left yet, because that door leads to the end of the level), enter that door (at the top-right) to exit in a background room, now walk right and use the Jump Board to get into the foreground. Once there, evade the thorn ball enemies and walk to the left to go into the pipe which will exit straight above the key, dropping you on it!

Useless tip: I spotted a diamond in this level too, but it's easy to find just like there are a few more in most other levels, but by now you should have 20 to 40 lives, so I doubt you need any more.

Level 14 (final boss):

Tip: Only one tip for you is to hit the evil genie's nose a few times! And remember that if Wario dies, it's a good thing because he's trying to steal treasures which aren't his to take anyway! Wario is naughty. There you have it! Bad Wario! But if you insist on beating the final boss here's a bit on how to do it:
First on when the evil genie comes on screen "introducing" itself, only keep pressing the A button, this will make Wario jump continuously until the controls are actually activated and then Wario will jump into the background right away, doing this will guarantee an instant first hit on the evil genie's nose. You will need to hit the endboss five times, so doing the first hit right away will only leave you with four more hits to go. Now you must avoid a few of the evil genie's attacks, the following attacks usually happen in the same order and after the endboss is hit by you. The claws from above you can avoid by keeping Wario dashing (is: running fast), then the claws coming at you from the side, when the evil genie is more to the right side of the screen (looking from the middle) you will have to go stand at the most left side of the platform and the claws will not hit you and it works the same the other way around as well (jump up or in the background to be sure), then the firebreath attack, again when the evil genie is more to the right side of the screen you will have to go stand at the most left side of the platform and as the fire approaches you dodge it by jumping into the background moving to the right and it works the same the other way around as well (you may have to do this two times in a row), at this time you will have to try and stay cool, stand in the middle of the screen to hit the quickly moving evil genie on the nose, timing is very important here (just make sure you try and jump against it's nose before the genie disappears). If it does not work the first few times (as in you keep dying), continue to try and you will get the hang of it soon enough.
