Golf:

Tee off for 18 holes of realistic 3-D links! Virtual Boy Golf elevates the game to an incredible new level!
Determine your strategy as you ponder the conditions. Check your position and the distance to the pin. Select a club and adjust your swing. Consider the wind factor carefully or you could end up out of bounds! Each dimensional fairway provides harrowing hazards to challenge players of all handicaps. Swing into action and go for a hole in one!

At the Main Menu besides selecting between Stroke Play (practice) & Tournament Play, you can view the following selections:
- Individual Records: Each player's individual records can be viewed. Select the player whose records you want to see from the player selection screen.
- Course Record: The best scores under stroke Play or Tournament mode can be viewed here. An extra here is that if a Best Shot has been established during game play, the Best Shot screen will also be displayed. If you select one of the Best Shots, you will view a REPLAY of that shot.
- You can Continue the game you just left if you wish, but you will need to have written down the password to do this.
- Options: 1. Depth of vision adjustment; 2. Button settings you can change to either Type A or B; 3. Automatic pause on/off; 4. Background music on/off.

After everything's set up and you start the game, when playing, before you hit the golf ball you will logically have to set the following selections by their according icons:
Direction: Determines the direction of your shot, keep a close eye on the 3D directional radar and wind direction;
Club: Select the desired club, based on the distance remaining to the pin and the position and lie of the ball. Woods, Long irons, Middle irons, Short irons, Wedges, Putter, their all there, being 14 in total;
Stance: Selects the desired stance, making it possible to draw the ball or make it fade;
Shot: Determines the amount of power put into your shot and the point of impact on the ball. Take note that in this game the "Sweet Spot" isn't the bottom, but the center of the ball, this was done to make the game more enjoyable for novice players;
And in between you can select Menu to get to more game play features and information menus, like your score and a replay of the most recent individual shot or putt can be viewed.

The music is great, very well composed soundtrack that fits the golf theme like a charm. And with the "oooooh aaaah" & cheery sound effects included it's all you'd expect.

The 3-D in the game is created by the "V-Polysys™ Integrated 3D SP Ver.2.0a" engine. Which gives you an excellent feel of depth when you look into the background of the golf courses as you hit the ball. If only those trees weren't so annoyingly placed, because of their 2D-ness in a 3D landscape it's hard to estimate if the golf ball will hit them or not. Other than that the player & ball movements are very realistic in the varying course environments, for example: the golf ball bounces as unpredictable as it would on a real course. Lastly I will name a couple of lie conditions you'll be dealing with in Golf: Tee area, Fairway, Shallow rough, Deep rough, Very deep rough, Bunker (normal lie), Bunker (half of ball visible), Bunker (only small portion of ball visible), Cart path and Green.

In short: T&E Soft is well known for their Papillon Country Club golf simulators, and you can see why, smooth control and easy access menus make for a great game for the golf fans amongst us!

My opinion: I thought I wasn't so bad finishing as the 48th player in the tournament competition for the first time, only to find out there were 47 virtual players I had to play against! That goes to show what my golf sport experience is, but after a while you learn which club to use where. And that's when the tournaments get interesting, but still you need to be a fan to enjoy the game's long term appeal, which (with a wealth of options) is clearly there.
